Women and sport in Iran, photo essay by Andrea Giubelli
[I]n Iran, in recent times, is easier to see women in sport activity. And not only into the walls of gyms, but in the public parks, under the eyes of the people. In fact, the Public Administrations are installing sports gear in many parks and gardens, and always more women, young and not-young, do gymnastic and sport outdoor.
If this can to seem “normal”, we have to think that in a Country like Iran, (where until a little time ago it was impossible to see a woman does exercises or jogging in public) this is instead a sign for a possible change. But the rules for the clothing have to be respected also in the sport activity; so the veil has to be always dressed. The girls often use the hood of the tracksuit for to cover, at least in part, their hair. But the adult women, do gymnastics wearing long black chadors, still a little worried to infringe the rules.
Even now, like in the past, the young women have the assignment to improve the life in their Country.
