[O]nce known for salt production, the sun burnt islands of Sinan County are now recognized as the slave islands of South Korea. Five times in the last ten years cases involving the disabled have been raised and in 2015, fifty Korean salt farm owners and regional job brokers were indicted on crimes involving modern day slavery. Despite the indictments, the production of South Korean salt and the treatment of those who produce it remains questionable. Southern Salt offers a glimpse into Korean salt production. (Andrew Faulk)
