Riga is the capital of Latvia and my home since 2011. Beneath the shiny veneer of the splendorous city centre and the safe tourist routes lurk perplexing, mystifying spaces, filled with ghastly relics of the Soviet architecture; nightmarish mixtures of environment and objects; dangerous weirdoes and vagabonds.
This series illustrates my grappling with the perplexities and the perceived dangers of an urban environment. It also constitutes an attempt to build my personal visual theory of Riga. (Alnis Stakle)
