Under construction, photo essay by Yevgenia Gorbulsky
[T]he big cities are full of them. The roads are renewed, rebuilt, constructed. There is danger everywhere and our urban environment is constantly changing. The more traffic there is in the urban space – the more safety barrels, cones, fences and other barricades are becoming part of the scenery.
Wandering the streets of New York and other American cities always makes me wonder how well those obstacles mingle with the pace of the human movement and car traffic.
Some city areas spaces are defined by those orange cones and you won’t recognize them without.
One can recognize them as architecture, others call them Art, as they mingle with the flora, the fauna and the commercial posters on the walls. They do attract our attention and became part of our urban culture, that’s for sure.
